I have been a student from Busy Bees for over 12 years (HillV2 branch), ever since I was in kindergarten when it was still at Railway Mall. This enrichment centre holds a special place in my heart due to the amount of time I've spent there. I’ve made many friends and got to know many wonderful and inspiring Chinese teachers, who played pivotal roles in my learning journey in Chinese (CL) and thereafter higher Chinese (HCL). Throughout my entire journey here there was never a moment where I felt judged or let down by my Chinese abilities. Ever since the day I attended this enrichment, it has allowed me to learn and grow, from an ignorant student who barely knew anything about Chinese to one who consistently scores As in Chinese (AL1 in PSLE, As in O level Normal and Higher Chinese). I made an effort to focus and learn diligently in every single class I attended, enduring up to 5 hours of continuous lessons on some days. Looking back now, I think it was worthwhile and I slowly got used to it. Although it was definitely challenging at times due to the rigour of the curriculum, it was precisely that, that made me improve and maintain my performance consistently. My teachers were definitely the key to my improvement in the language. I clarified any doubts and consulted my teachers whenever I could, even after class, and making sure I understood my pitfalls in the language and how I could improve. Not to mention, the notes and practices that Busy Bees provides are rigorous, thorough and relevant to the current MOE syllabus. Although this enrichment may not be for everyone, I would say that many teachers who have taught me would always go out of their ways to cater to students of different abilities, slowing down the lesson when they needed to, and have regular check-ins on their students to monitor their progress and help them improve. A portion of students now may view Chinese as a boring or irrelevant subject. However, the teachers at Busy Bees have really sustained my motivation to learn, improve, and find joy in my Mother Tongue. Many of them have inspired me to stretch myself and increase my awareness and knowledge of Chinese, by providing me with encouragement, as well as useful tips and advice. Thank you to my parents for making the decision to send me there for 12 years. The journey was difficult at times, but I made it. After 12 years, I find myself surprised. Surprised that I didn't give up on my Mother Tongue. Surprised that I didn't lose interest and the willingness to learn Chinese, compared to many of my peers. Surprised at where I am today. I am truly grateful to the teachers at Busy Bees for all these years. Thank you for the time you have spent to help me improve my competency. Thank you for seeing through my struggles and achievements in Chinese. Thank you for all the support, guidance, advice and tutoring you've given me. Thank you for the meaningful conversations that we had. I stopped the lessons after a few terms because I saw very little improvement for my kids. The teacher gave us some feedback at the beginning but soon stopped after a few lessons. They ignored me when I asked about getting the deposit back. Took classes here and my Chinese really improved! Lessons by 赵老师 were very structured, and she gave helpful tips and insights on exam strategy (which some schools don't teach in-depth). Picked up some tips 💡from 詹老师 to guide our children on their Mandarin learning journey - create a Chinese language - friendly environment at home, watching Chinese TV together or listening radio programs in Mandarin - reading story (bedtime ?) In Mandarin - Spelling; writing in Chinese (not Drawing the character) Most of these are Do-able; good to start now.
